Susan Gallagher...loved her laugh

Susan Lee Baun, age 71, of West Bend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2015.  

Suzzi was born on November 29, 1943 to the late John and Dorothy (nee Deschner) Gallagher in Chicago, IL.  She was raised in Delavan, WI.  After high school, she attended college in Madison to become a certified beautician.  

Suzzi was united in marriage to the late Frederick Baun on October 29, 1966, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Delavan.  They resided in Delavan until moving to West Bend in 1977.  They raised two children, daughter Genell Baun, and son, Stephen Baun. Besides working as a beautician, she also worked with the West Bend District school lunch program for many years.  

Suzzi enjoyed collecting antiques and visiting with friends.  Suzzi will be remembered for her unique handwriting on her good will wishes she sent out to her many friends and family.  Her kind heart will be missed by all.  

Suzzi is survived by her two children, Genell Baun of Brown Deer, and Stephen (Dawn Geidel-Baun) Baun of West Bend; eight grandchildren, Nicholas Johnson, Brittany, Zachary, Savannah, Camden, J.J., Devin, and Alyssa Baun; a sister, Carol (Ron) Willing of Milton; and special nieces, Wendy and Deanna.  

A funeral service in remembrance of Suzzi will be held on Monday, October 26, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in West Bend.  Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. with a service following at 1:30 p.m. Pastor David Kellerman will officiate, and burial will follow in Washington County Memorial Park.

Jon Kempken, 73, born on August 24, 1942, in Burlington, Wisconsin to parents Bernie and Ruth Kempken met our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, after a brief illness with Lung Cancer. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mickey Kempken (née Iverson) of Palm Desert, Calif.: Three sons, Kurt Kempken and Tom Kempken both of Palm Desert and Dan (Angi) Kempken of Indio, Calif.; two daughters, Kathy Kempken of Palm Desert and Christine Kempken of Oceanside, Calif.; five beloved grandchildren: Marcus, Christopher, Nicole, Jessica and Keira Rose; brother, Michael (Barbara) Kempken of Janesville, Wis.; and cousins: Gene (Ollie) Kempken of Tomahawk, Wis., Susan (Mark) Heckel of Madison, Wis., and Lynn (Paul) Schroeder of Wind Lake, Wis. After graduating Delavan-Darien High School in 1961, Jon enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Paine Field in Everett, Wash. from 1961 - 1964 where they eventually settled, worked and began raising their family. They were members of St. Mary Magdalen Parish for many years before relocating to Palm Desert. His early career with Western Gear at the Everett Waterfront had him traveling the world repairing oil rigs and other heavy duty equipment. As the company changed ownership over the years, he remained dedicated and never left or retired from the company. He was faithful to the end and continued working for the same company, now called Control Flow/Wes Tech for 48 years until his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernie and Ruth Kempken; brother, Paul Kempken, sister-in-law, Karen Kempken; and several nieces and a nephew. He enjoyed hot rod cars, going to NASCAR races and local car shows with his three son's. He was a Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers fan to the end. He was a supportive family man and life partner to his wife, a proud father and a doting grandfather who lived a happy life filled with love and laughter. At his request there will be no services.
