Sorry for your loss, Barb

Ruth E. Kelsey (mother of Barbara Oehlke) died peacefully at Wesley Willows, April 17, 2013. She was predeceased by her first husband, Milo Willard in 1948, and second husband Carleton Kelsey in 2009. She is survived by brother Richard Van Keuren, Oshkosh, WI & her 6 children: David (Lorrie) Willard, Plantation, FL; Barbara (Roger) Oehlke, Rockford, IL; Martha Retman, Seattle, WA; Todd (Jill Levy) Kelsey, Stoney Creek, NY; Virginia (Gary) Harmara, Toronto, Canada; and Mary Beth Kelsey, Oakland, CA. There are 14 grandchildren: Emily & Katie Willard, Megan, Quinn, & Khanh Oehlke, Sonnet & Mischa Retman; Eric, Tzeitel, & Yarrow Kelsey, & Kirsten, Mischa, Kelsey Hamara, as well as 14 great-grandchildren with one more due in May.


Ruth was a former math & science teacher in Baraboo & Delavan, WI. She was especially fulfilled by her life dedicated to a welcoming home and heart. Her 6 children were always welcome to invite their friends for dinner and extended stays. Foreign exchange students and teachers lived with the family for as long as a year at time. Ruth was also a certified foster parent for many children. There was always room at the table for one more because she was an exceptional cook. After retirement, she and Carl became world travelers to all 7 continents and presented programs on their travels.

There will be a brief memorial service

on Tuesday, April 23, at 1:30 in the Anderson Chapel at the Hunt Terrace (lower back level) at Wesley Willows. The family will have a private service at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund in Ruth Kelsey’s name at Wesley Willows, 4141 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL. 61103. Cremation arrangements were handled by Collins and Stone.

Dave's Bucket List

Pam Woodford Starr's husband, Dave, checked off  'golf in every state in the U.S.'  at least I think I recall her telling me that.  Correct me if I'm wrong, Pam.  If I can figure out how to edit this stuff I will correct it at the top of our blog.  Why do they keep changing formats faster than I can keep up?

Waiting 3 months to post is not a good idea.  It took me several tries to remember my password to get to publish.

Anyway, here it is Spring and I just noticed that today is Dave Koepnick's birthday.  I assume that means he's passed the 70 mark.  I seem to recall Don Beresh had his birthday mentioned on FB too.  Got me to wondering how many of us will be celebrating that good fortune soon.  I know several of us have birthdays in May.

I saw Joan Hayes in Florida this past Feb. when I was helping at my mother's in Orlando.  My visits are always too short when I get down to Briney.  I know she'll be heading back soon. Those of us who have spent the winter here think it is quite warm and pleasant but I suspect that isn't so if you're coming home from the South.

I hope this finds everyone happy doing just what you've always wanted to do.  Myrt

Merry Christmas

Another year is at an end and I take this time to Wish you all a Merry Christmas.  I have not been back to WI since our class reunion, and for me that is quite a change.  It does, however, make me even more appreciative of people who keep in touch via email or facebook.  Happy New Year and keep in touch.  Myrt

Obituary for Chris

Don Beresh sent me this article from the Dec. 13, 2012 Delavan Enterprise.  I could read it by enlarging it and moving it back and forth across the screen.  I don't know how it will reprint here.  May be easier to look up the Enterprise.

A change in school boundaries meant that Chris graduated from Walworth instead of with us, but those of you who graduated from St. Andrews should remember her.  I recieved this email from Sue Nauseda Everette today.

Hi Myrt,


As you know,I don't do much on Facebook, but I did see your note about my dearest friend Christy. I was very thankful that I was able to be with her and the family during her last hours. She slept and slipped peacefully away early Friday morning - about 4:30 a.m. Her Mormon services will be this Thursday at 1:00 p.m.

We had such a nice lunch together and I again thank you for the nice photo you posted. I am sorry we didn't have a chance to get together again while you were in California - hope you enjoyed Vegas! Please drop me a note if you get a moment.

Gentlemen,
This note assumes you each still have internet access, and that you occasionally check this blog to see wassup.
Based on that premise, I can think of two reasons for my emails being rejected by your Hotmail server during the last two weeks, for the reason, “mailbox unavailable”:
1- Your region’s Hotmail server sucks pond water. This possibility is borne out by the fact that someone created a web page just to monitor Hotmail’s downtime. Curiously, Carole Ellis, Paul Francis, Harold Olson and Dick Popp also use Hotmail, but none of theirs get kicked back.
2- You’ve changed email providers.
…(OK, three reasons)…
3- You’ve change your email address.
…(OK, four)…
4- You’ve given up on the internet, in which case you’re not reading this, so never mind.
