Isn't it great having grandkids to keep you involved in sports. Have a great day tomorrow....didn't realize you were one of the youngsters in our class.

Gene Mustin Well, now thank you ....I didn't realize that either...'course I haven't really checked on that...yes it is...have been involved with the two boys ever since they could swing a bat or kick a ball...have been coaching football for three yrs now and I love it...imagine at this age...remember...haven't looked it up recently but I was tagged as returning to DDHS and coaching basketball...this more enjoyable...oldest 15 is sophomore RT for Seabreeze High School and my youngest an 8th grader is a QB, WR, TE in AYF organization team called Ormond Beach Pride football team. Working with them and the other young players I think keeps you a little "young"...at least in the mind...the body has given out....but, I can still stand on one foot and put my socks on...lol!

Guys and their cars
It has been so long since I've added to this blog I'm not sure I remember how. Chuck A. sent me a photo titled Bill Boutelle and asked me to send it to Jim F. So I did. There was a back and forth between these guys and memories of the cars, but unfortunately I have a quick finger for the delete button. I do have the picture of the car and a later note from Jim. That's all I know.
And here's Jim's update, the part that's missing is the discussion of the car and one or the other of these guys had one similar.
Myrt:
All's well with me here in southern Michigan. I'll be turning 70 on 12/28, I think only Skip Devoy and Larry DuBois were younger than me but not sure about that.
I get to Delavan 3 - 4 times a year, it is nothing like what we had there in the 50's - 60's. When the town council approved the Walmart (I wonder who got rich over that) that pretty much drove a stake into the heart of the downtown. There still seems to be quite a bit of industry in the area, I hear that the employment picture while not rosy isn't as bad as most small towns, particularly those in Michigan.
I don't know too many folks there anymore, either. I touch base with Ron and Sig Surmac, Jimmy and Donna Merrill, Ron and Sandy Henriott, the breakfast group at Greenie's (at the golf course) most of which are folks that I used to work with at Sta-Rite and one or two others from "back in the day"...

Sorry for your loss, Barb
Ruth E. Kelsey (mother of Barbara Oehlke) died peacefully at Wesley Willows, April 17, 2013. She was predeceased by her first husband, Milo Willard in 1948, and second husband Carleton Kelsey in 2009. She is survived by brother Richard Van Keuren, Oshkosh, WI & her 6 children: David (Lorrie) Willard, Plantation, FL; Barbara (Roger) Oehlke, Rockford, IL; Martha Retman, Seattle, WA; Todd (Jill Levy) Kelsey, Stoney Creek, NY; Virginia (Gary) Harmara, Toronto, Canada; and Mary Beth Kelsey, Oakland, CA. There are 14 grandchildren: Emily & Katie Willard, Megan, Quinn, & Khanh Oehlke, Sonnet & Mischa Retman; Eric, Tzeitel, & Yarrow Kelsey, & Kirsten, Mischa, Kelsey Hamara, as well as 14 great-grandchildren with one more due in May.
Ruth was a former math & science teacher in Baraboo & Delavan, WI. She was especially fulfilled by her life dedicated to a welcoming home and heart. Her 6 children were always welcome to invite their friends for dinner and extended stays. Foreign exchange students and teachers lived with the family for as long as a year at time. Ruth was also a certified foster parent for many children. There was always room at the table for one more because she was an exceptional cook. After retirement, she and Carl became world travelers to all 7 continents and presented programs on their travels.
There will be a brief memorial service
on Tuesday, April 23, at 1:30 in the Anderson Chapel at the Hunt Terrace (lower back level) at Wesley Willows. The family will have a private service at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund in Ruth Kelsey’s name at Wesley Willows, 4141 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL. 61103. Cremation arrangements were handled by Collins and Stone.

Dave's Bucket List
Pam Woodford Starr's husband, Dave, checked off 'golf in every state in the U.S.' at least I think I recall her telling me that. Correct me if I'm wrong, Pam. If I can figure out how to edit this stuff I will correct it at the top of our blog. Why do they keep changing formats faster than I can keep up?
Waiting 3 months to post is not a good idea. It took me several tries to remember my password to get to publish.
Anyway, here it is Spring and I just noticed that today is Dave Koepnick's birthday. I assume that means he's passed the 70 mark. I seem to recall Don Beresh had his birthday mentioned on FB too. Got me to wondering how many of us will be celebrating that good fortune soon. I know several of us have birthdays in May.
I saw Joan Hayes in Florida this past Feb. when I was helping at my mother's in Orlando. My visits are always too short when I get down to Briney. I know she'll be heading back soon. Those of us who have spent the winter here think it is quite warm and pleasant but I suspect that isn't so if you're coming home from the South.
I hope this finds everyone happy doing just what you've always wanted to do. Myrt
