Obituary for Ms. Teresa Ester Bates

Bates, Teresa E. (nee. DeWolfe), age 76, of Waterford, passed away at her residence July 23, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Terrence Edward and Esther Virginia Frecker DeWolfe. Teresa graduated from Delavan-Darien High School, attended college at University of Northern Colorado and returned to Wisconsin where she lived the rest of her life; in Delavan, Elkhorn, Rochester and most recently in Waterford. She was an avid lover of animals. She volunteered for many years at a local horse farm, where she also cared for and loved her own horses Ohio and Fala as they lived out their lives.
Teresa is survived by her son Christopher A. Bates (Darien, WI), siblings Dan DeWolfe (Aspen, CO), Pat DeWolfe (Allentown, PA), and Lisa DeWolfe Krueger (Platteville, WI).
Preceded in death by her parents and one brother Teddy DeWolfe.
In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made out to Christopher A. Bates, to be donated as to Teresa’s wishes, and mailed to Mealy Funeral Home, 225 West Main Street, Waterford, Wisconsin 53185, attn: Christopher A Bates.

Carol Wilkins Greene

I’ve put off sending this sad note for as long as I dare, while trying—and failing—to find an “official” notification to attach to it.

Three days ago, Carol Wilkins Greene’s brother Jim informed us, through Sue Deschner Davis, that Carol passed away on 22 September 2019, apparently due to complications from cancer and pneumonia.

Although I’ve not yet found an official obituary, either out of Florida or Wisconsin, Jim told Sue that internment will take place—apparently alongside Bob—in Florida, but without a formal funeral service.

Rest In Peace, dear lady.

Obituary

James 'Jim' A. Foreman of Sterling Heights, Michigan, died peacefully at his home in the care of his family early Thursday morning, August 29, 2019. He was 75 years old. Jim was born December 28, 1943 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to parents Lynn and Helen Foreman.

Being born and raised in Wisconsin, Jim was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan, and loved them so much, he bought the team (well, 1 share, anyway). He was thrilled to attend a playoff game at the frozen tundra of Lambeau Field with his son and daughter in 2014.

In 1961 he graduated from Delavan-Darien High School in Delavan, Wisconsin. He later received a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. His career took him from Wisconsin to St. Louis, Missouri, and later to Detroit, Michigan. He worked his way up at Chrysler for 35 years, becoming an automotive manufacturing executive, retiring as the Body Center/Manufacturing Engineering Manager at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant. After retiring from Chrysler, he enjoyed spending time as a consultant, which took him around the world, even living in the UK for a few months.

In addition to his illustrious career, Jim had many hobbies and interests. He took great pride in everything he did - loading the dishwasher "correctly," maintaining his vehicles and homes, and making whatever he was working on the very best it could be. He loved to be busy and was always doing something or going somewhere. He will be greatly missed.

He loved motorsports from an early age, and participated in various ways - as a spectator, an engineer, and a driver - most of his life. He actively participated for the last 40 years; as crew chief for his son's go-karting career, and later as an SCCA driver and engineer.

Jim recently received his student pilot's license after 3 years of lessons, which was a lifelong goal of his.

He was a voracious reader, and enjoyed fiction, philosophy, science, and all things automotive. Jim loved old time rock 'n roll, especially Bob Seger, Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, Elton John, Bob Dylan, and anything you can dance to. He was known for his love of cowboy boots, whether they were allowed by the dress code at work, or not. He also enjoyed watching and playing tennis.

Jim is survived by his loving children, Amber (Lyndon) King of South Lyon and A.J. (Sandra) Foreman of Vancouver, Washington, as well as four grandchildren, Alexandra, Anwyn, Catriona, and Ariana. He is also survived by his companion, Charlotte Cornell. James is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vicki.

A memorial gathering with be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Rd. (between 14 and 15 Mile Roads) on Wednesday, September 4th from 4-8pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vicki L. Foreman Endowment for Cancer Education through the Beaumont Health Foundation, which Jim established in 2004, following the passing of his wife.

While trying to find out Betsy Gibson’s new email address from her younger brother Dan, I instead discovered that Betsy passed away almost 2 years ago, on Friday, March 16, 2016.

Elizabeth Betsy Wilson LUBBOCK-Elizabeth Betsy Wilson of Lubbock passed away Friday, March 18, at the age of 72, following an extended illness. Betsy was born in Janesville, WI, and raised in Delavan, WI. She worked for the CIA in Africa and Vietnam during the 1960s. Upon retirement, Betsy began a career in the banking industry until retiring again in 2006. Following her marriage to Roy, a career Marine, in 1971, they lived in many places, including Greenwood, MS, Camp Lejeune, N.C., and finally Nashville, TN, which would become her home for over 30 years. She settled in Lubbock in 2008, in order to be closer to the love of her life, her grandson, Jack Cook. Betsy is preceded in death by her husband, Roy, of 35 years in 2007, and her parents, Frederick and Victoria Gibson. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Wilson Cook, and husband, Chris, and their son, Jack. Also surviving is a sister, Deb Lucci of Superior, WI, and two brothers, Dan Gibson of St. Paul, MN, and Andy Gibson of Virginia. Betsy proudly donated her body to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 23, at 5 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers with Doug Hensley officiating. Joyce Rieser Atkinson

After a brief stay at the Golden Years nursing home in Walworth, Joyce lost her battle with cancer early this morning with her family present.  She fought it bravely for several years and was active in many community organizations.  Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

Margaret Christine MacKay died in the hospital on September 9, 2017 in Santa Clara, CA due to complications following heart surgery. She was 73.
Mrs. MacKay was born on November 11, 1943 in Delavan, WI to her parents, Walter and Clara Fleming. She married Bryan MacKay in 1978. The MacKays planted roots in San Jose, CA where Bryan and Margaret both worked at the San Jose Mercury News for over 30 years. She retired in 1999 and dedicated her remaining time to educating and caring for her new granddaughter.
Mrs. MacKay is survived by her husband, Bryan MacKay, daughter and son, Megan and Michael MacKay, and granddaughter Destinee Fields; all of San Jose, CA. Her sister, Mary Nielsen, and brothers Walter, Gary, and Doug Fleming.
